Our Mission

Our mission is to perpetuate the creative legacy of Maxwell Anderson (1888-1959) and inspire new generations to appreciate his work. We encourage new productions, performances, and recordings, and foster scholarship. The Foundation welcomes all inquiries pertaining to Maxwell Anderson, including current research, performance, and recent publications. We are pleased to make referrals concerning performance rights and availability of performance materials to the applicable publisher.

If you practice an art, be proud of it and make it proud of you.... It may break your heart, but it will fill your heart before it breaks it; it will make you a person in your own right.
— Maxwell Anderson, The Essence of Tragedy and Other Footnotes and Papers, 1939
